Program Overview
W. C. Britt was an educator who began teaching in a one-room schoolhouse. He was also a community leader and acted as Snellville, Georgia’s first mayor (after a default in its first charter.) W. C. Britt Elementary located in Snellville holds the honor of being named for a pioneer in Gwinnett County Public Schools and the City of Snellville.
Purpose
To award two scholarships to two local high school seniors who have shown great service to his/her community and to their school.
- Applicant Eligibility
- On track to graduate in the Spring of 2025
- GPA of 2.5 or greater
- Applied to a post graduate College, University or Technical School
- Shown a demonstration of community service for Gwinnett County
- Two letters of Recommendation:
- One high school teacher and,
- One community leader
Description of Scholarship
The recipient will receive a one-time award in the amount of $500.
Responsibility of Applicants
Applicants must submit, along with the completed application, a minimum of one-page essay on the importance community service involvement and education have on society, and the importance your community involvement and your education have had on you.
